What Is Direct Vision Standard (DVS)​

The Direct Vision Standard aka DVS, has come about following a spike in the number of collisions and even fatalities within London involving other road users inclusive of motorists, cyclist and walking pedestrians. 

The Advancements have been introduced in order to reduce and address this high number. 

Predominantly targeting HGVs (vehicle’s 12T or more), the DVS structure measures a driver’s direct view through the window of their HGV cab.​

An assessment is then undergone via a star rating from zero (poor) to five (excellent), which indicates the level of risk to people walking and cycling near the vehicle:
